Jamila V. Alexander is an associate in the law firm of Goren, Cherof, Doody, and Ezrol, P.A. Ms. Alexander's practice consists of representing clients in both the private and public sectors. Ms. Alexander concentrates primarily on governmental law and litigation.
As stated, Ms. Alexander's practice includes representing clients in the public sector such as municipalities, community redevelopment agencies, and local housing authorities. This entails primarily representing the governmental entities in the capacity of an Assistant City Attorney or Assistant General Counsel with the responsibility of addressing all facets of legal issues that develop. Ms. Alexander provides litigation services for the firms public sector clients when the need occurs. Additionally, Ms. Alexander represents a number of the firm's clients regarding the civil forfeiture needs of their police departments.
In law school, Ms. Alexander, enjoyed a wide array of experiences in the legal profession. Ms. Alexander served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Melvia Green of Florida's Third District Court of Appeal in 2000, a summer associate for a local commercial litigation firm and a legal/business operations intern for the Miami Dolphins, Ltd., professional football team. Furthermore, while in lawschool, Ms. Alexander served as a Certified Legal Intern, with the Broward County Office of the Public Defender.
Ms. Alexander graduated with honors from the University of Miami School of Law in 2002 where she was an Articles and Comments Editor for the University of Miami School of Law Business Law Review. Furthermore, during law school, Ms. Alexander was a member of the Society of Bar and Gavel, the highest honor society within the school, a Florida Education Fund, MPLE Scholar, a Dean's Scholarship Recipient, and served on the Executive Board of the Black Law Students Association.
